Me Too

The Rules & Barbershop

In collaboration with U.S.-based production company Versus, we partnered with the metoo.movement to bring to life two powerful animated PSA shorts. me too. is a global movement committed to ending sexual violence by challenging the systemic injustices that enable it. Through healing-centered narratives grounded in consent and bodily autonomy, it aims to spark cultural change by amplifying diverse voices.
Both pieces were crafted using 2D character animation and cel-shaded 3D backgrounds, combining depth and emotion through a hybrid visual language that supports these vital, urgent stories.

The barbershop

The first video takes place in a lively West Philadelphia barbershop, where a multigenerational conversation challenges the cultural silence around sexual abuse and masculinity in Black communities — highlighting the importance of safe spaces for Black men and boys to speak and heal.

The rules

The second video is set in a Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood, where a 12-year-old girl opens up to two women about why she’s started dressing differently. A deep conversation unfolds about the harmful "rules" girls are taught to protect themselves from adult behavior —exposing how rape culture places blame on children, and calling for a shift in responsibility.

Character design

One of the key artistic challenges in this project was recreating the characters as faithfully and realistically as possible — not as cartoons or exaggerated caricatures, but as genuine, everyday people. The goal was to craft illustrated representations that feel grounded in reality, allowing the audience to recognize themselves, their communities, and their experiences on screen. This realism was essential to build empathy and create a deeper, more authentic emotional connection with the message.

Backgrounds

Another artistic challenge was crafting backgrounds and environments that felt authentically rooted in the US city of Philadelphia. Rather than using generic urban settings, we focused on capturing real neighborhoods, textures, and atmospheres that locals would instantly recognize — from the architecture and street layouts to the mood and energy of the intimate barbeshop scenes. This attention to detail was essential to ground the story in a tangible reality and reinforce the authenticity of the message through a strong sense of place.
